Prior to the live course, attendees will participate in a 2-hour online course covering the research and fundamentals of IASTM technique. The course includes watching 2 videos and taking a short quiz. Attendees must obtain a 75% or higher on the quiz in order to pass the online portion of the course.

**PLEASE NOTE:  Please be prepared to provide proof of attendance of an IASTM course that was at least 8 hours in length before attending this advanced course. This is not required if you sign up for both a Level I and a Level II course in the same weekend.

This 8-hour course builds on the principles covered in the introductory IASTM course. Using a case-study lab-focused teaching format, advanced treatment strokes are introduced and problem solving skills are emphasized. This course includes the utilization of motion with IASTM and multi regional treatment concepts.

At the end of the course, attendees will take an exam for a certification in Level II: Advanced IASTM.

Attendance of an introductory course, at least 8 hours in length, is mandatory before attending this course.

    • Multiple tools and body regions selected to highlight muscle interfaces and planes
    • Emphasis on tool selection based on body contours, depth of target tissue, and size of target area
    • Movement with treatment emphasized
    • Non-optimal treatment surfaces of tools introduced to modulate treatment effect
  • IT band/lateral thigh, medial thigh, adductors, and knee case study lab
    • Use of all tool surfaces for advanced strokes of tack & mobilization, filleting with motion, and stretching with treatment emphasized
    • Shearing of tissue along the IT band/vastus lateralis interface to enhance mobility
    • Using flat surfaces and edge of tool to assist in knee extension – tool mobilization with motion emphasized
  • Lower leg, foot & ankle case study lab
    • Fascia torsion stroke for deep calf tissue work
    • Tissue shearing with stretch
    • Filleting strokes with motion along tissue planes

In order to attend a HawkGrips IASTM course, each attendee must meet all of the following criteria:

  1. Completed a minimum of 80 course hours of anatomy and physiology
  2. Have a working knowledge of the musculoskeletal system and relevant physiology
  3. Be able within the scope of professional practice to do assessments by evaluating and/or diagnosing injuries and conditions
  4. Have achieved or is a student in their junior or senior year (transcripts required) working towards one or more of the following credentials: ATC, CHT, DC, DO, DOM, MD, MT, OT, OTA, PT, PTA. For other relevant credentials please contact HawkGrips to verify eligibility.
