Dr. Shawn Burger, PT, DPT, CSCS

Dr. Burger is a manual orthopedic therapist who earned his master’s degree in physical therapy from Loma Linda University in 1998, and a transitional doctorate from The College of St. Scholastica. He is part-owner of Burger Physical Therapy, Inc., a California corporation responsible for delivering rehab services through a continuum of outpatient clinics, long-term care facilities, and multiple acute hospital systems.

Dr. Burger takes a keen interest in the role that soft tissues play in performance and function, with a personal history that includes gua sha, lomilomi, Graston Technique, and FAKTR (Functional and Kinetic Treatment with Rehab). Each of these paradigms may be considered forms of instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM). Dr. Burger has been teaching IASTM since 2005, including 200 seminars both nationally and internationally to groups such as physical therapists, chiropractors, athletic trainers and massage therapists, as well as primary and orthopedic medical physicians. Currently, he is studying the role that IASTM plays within home exercise programs.
