Dr. Ted L. Forcum, DC, DACBSP, FICC, CSCS, CES, PES

Dr. Forcum received a bachelor’s degree from Willamette University and earned his doctorate from the University of Western States. He’s also a licensed massage therapist, NSCA certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS), and diplomate of the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians (DACBSP).

His other certifications include certified kinesio taping practitioner (CKTP), Graston Technique certified, NASM corrective exercise specialist (CES) and performance enhancement specialist (PES), and registered trigenics practitioner (RTP). Dr. Forcum teaches postgraduate programs on rehabilitation, soft tissue treatment, sports injuries and biomechanics. He’s also the author of a chapter on the leg, ankle and foot in the text Conservative Management of Sports Injuries.

The American Chiropractic Association (ACA) Council on Sports Injuries and Physical Fitness voted Dr. Forcum the Sports Chiropractor of the Year in 1994, 1995, and 2004. He was also voted Native American Entrepreneur of the year in 1997 and recognized in 2000 with an ACA Sports Council Achievement Award. In 2001, Dr. Forcum was honored as a fellow by the International College of Chiropractors, and in 2008 he received the Oregon Chiropractic Association President’s Award.

Dr. Forcum is also team chiropractor for the Portland Winterhawks of the Western Hockey League, and served on the medical staff for Team USA at the 2007 Pan American Games, 2008 Olympic Games, and national training camp for the 2015 IAAF World Championships in track & field.

He has worked as an event physician at the USA Track & Field Olympic Trials and National Championships, USA Taekwondo Championships, USA Triathlon National Championships, World Veteran Championships, World Masters Games, US Soccer Festival, World Canoe/Kayak Championships, and US Figure Skating Championships.

In addition, Dr. Forcum has been a staff chiropractor for the PGA Tour and PGA Champions Tour, as well as the Portland Timbers of Major League Soccer. He served as president of the ACA Council on Sports Injuries and Physical Fitness from 2008-2010. Dr. Forcum has spent 30 years in private practice in Portland and Astoria, OR, and is the first chiropractic physician to hold a Board of Directors position on the Joint Commission on Sports Medicine and Science.
