Level II: Advanced IASTM – Bradenton, FL – June 11th, 2017

**PLEASE NOTE:  Please be prepared to provide proof of attendance of an IASTM course that was at least 8 hours in length before attending this advanced course. This is not required if you sign up for both a Level I and a Level II course in the same weekend.

Prior to the live course, attendees will participate in a 2-hour online course reviewing the research and fundamentals of IASTM technique from the Level I course through a narrated video. The course includes watching 1 video, taking a short quiz, and completing a worksheet on a case study that will be reviewed in the live course. Attendees must obtain a 75% or higher score on the quiz in order to pass the online portion of the course.

This 8-hour course builds on the principles covered in the introductory IASTM course. Using a case-study lab-focused teaching format, advanced treatment strokes are introduced and problem solving skills are emphasized.  This course includes the utilization of motion with IASTM and multi regional treatment concepts. At the end of the course, attendees will take an exam for a certification in Level II: Advanced IASTM.

Attendance of an introductory course, at least 8 hours in length, is mandatory before attending this course.

In order to attend a HawkGrips IASTM course, each attendee must meet all of the following criteria:

  1. Completed a minimum of 80 course hours of anatomy and physiology
  2. Have a working knowledge of the musculoskeletal system and relevant physiology
  3. Be able within the scope of professional practice to do assessments by evaluating and/or diagnosing injuries and conditions
  4. Have achieved or is a student in their junior or senior year (transcripts required) working towards one or more of the following credentials: ATC, CHT, DC, DO, DOM, MD, MT, OT, OTA, PT, PTA. For other relevant credentials please contact HawkGrips to verify eligibility.
  • Introductory course review & documentation
    • Lecture format to review basic concepts covered in the introductory course
    • Current literature review
    • Documentation using appropriate billing codes: manual therapy vs. neuromuscular re-education
  • Shoulder case study lab
    • Interventions addressing the RC insertions, subscapularis, long head of the biceps
    • Integration motion into treatment
  • Cervical and upper thoracic case study lab
    • Suboccipitals and OA release
    • Anterior neck including the scalenes and sternocleidomastoid
  • Elbow and basic hand case study lab
    • Introduction of tack & mobilize strokes
    • Adding motion with treatment to enhance tendon gliding
  • Lumbar and post hip/hamstrings case study lab
    • Multiple tools and body regions selected to highlight muscle interfaces and planes
    • Movement with treatment emphasized
  • IT band, thigh, & knee case study lab
    • Use of all tool surfaces for advanced strokes of tack & mobilization, filleting with motion, and stretching with treatment emphasized
    • Using flat surfaces and edge of tool to assist in knee extension – tool mobilization with motion emphasized
  • Lower leg, foot & ankle case study lab
    • Fascia torsion stroke for deep calf tissue work
    • Filleting strokes with motion along tissue planes
  • Putting it All Together
    • Complex problem solving case study for integration of skills

HawkGrips reserves the right to cancel any live course. A cancellation is decided by the morning of the scheduled program. A full refund of tuition will be issued within 2 weeks if the course is canceled due to extenuating circumstances. HawkGrips is not responsible for any travel-related expense, including but not limited to airfare, overnight accommodations or other arrangements.

If you cannot attend a course that you have purchased a ticket for, please contact HawkGrips immediately. Full refunds may be issued up to 48 hours prior to the course.
