Clinical Corner: Comparing and Combining IASTM and Laser Therapy to Optimize Orthopedic Injury Treatments
This one-hour webinar focuses on musculoskeletal disorders—Adhesive capsulitis , plantar fasciopathy, and Achilles tendinopathy—remain among the most prevalent challenges in orthopedic and sports rehabilitation. These conditions often involve a complex interplay of altered tissue healing, mechanical overload, pain sensitization, and reduced functional capacity. In this Webinar, we will explore how combining photobiomodulation (laser therapy) with IASTM techniques can create a synergistic treatment strategy that addresses both the biological and mechanical aspects of tissue dysfunction.

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING REGARDING THE VIRTUAL FORMAT:
This is a LAB-based and interactive course. It is strongly recommended (but not required) to have access to the following:
1. (For IASTM) At least one IASTM tool and a partner / "patient" to practice on.
2. (For BFR) BFR equipment. BFR application / practice can be performed on a partner or yourself.
Our in-person and virtual courses cover the same information, course objectives, and have the same certification exams. For virtual, the live (zoom) portion has a condensed schedule.
Email education@hawkgrips.com with questions.
Explain the pathophysiology of common orthopedic conditions, including tendinopathy, and the role of mechanical overload, failed healing response, and pain sensitization.
Describe the biological mechanisms of laser therapy (photobiomodulation), including its effects on mitochondrial activity, ATP production, inflammation modulation, and tissue repair.
Discuss the mechanical and neurophysiological effects of IASTM, including mechanotransduction, fascial mobility, circulation enhancement, and pain modulation.
Differentiate the clinical indications and contraindications for laser therapy and IASTM in musculoskeletal rehabilitation.
Develop evidence-based treatment plans that integrate laser therapy and IASTM for conditions such as: Adhesive Capulitis, Achilles tendinopathy, Plantar fasciopathy
Apply practical dosing parameters and treatment sequencing principles to maximize therapeutic outcomes.
