Clinical Corner: Monitoring Athlete Loads and Recovery Programs: Using BFR and IASTM
- This course provides an exploration of load monitoring, recovery measurements, and recovery techniques using Blood Flow Restriction Training and Instrument-Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM) in athletic and clinical settings. You will learn to assess training load through objective and subjective measures, interpret recovery data to guide individualized treatment planning, and apply evidence-based BFR and IASTM techniques to facilitate soft tissue healing and enhance performance. Emphasis is placed on integrating physiological monitoring tools with exercise and manual therapy interventions to optimize recovery strategies and prevent overuse injuries.

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING REGARDING THE VIRTUAL FORMAT:
This is a LAB-based and interactive course. It is strongly recommended (but not required) to have access to the following:
1. (For IASTM) At least one IASTM tool and a partner / "patient" to practice on.
2. (For BFR) BFR equipment. BFR application / practice can be performed on a partner or yourself.
Our in-person and virtual courses cover the same information, course objectives, and have the same certification exams. For virtual, the live (zoom) portion has a condensed schedule.

Be able to analyze the components of athlete workload and apply appropriate recovery strategies to optimize performance and prevent overtraining.
Explain how BFR and IASTM techniques influence soft tissue healing, mobility, and performance outcomes in athletic populations.
Demonstrate proper IASTM application techniques on various muscle groups to enhance recovery following athletic activity.
Differentiate between appropriate and contraindicated uses of BFR and IASTM by evaluating athlete presentation, injury history, and tissue response.
Design a comprehensive IASTM-based recovery protocol that integrates assessment, treatment planning, and outcome measurement for a specific sport or athlete.
Apply the principles of Blood Flow Restriction (BFR) training to design an evidence-based recovery protocol for athletes
