Washington State University - Virtual Level I: IASTM Fundamentals and Virtual Fundamentals of BFR - October 8 and 9, 2024

IASTM Level I: This 4-hour course covers the basic skills necessary and to safely begin Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM) techniques. In this introductory skills acquisition course, participants will receive hands-on instruction in the proper use of IASTM through a lab-focused teaching format. The course will address proper instrument selection to address body contours and reach target tissues. At the end of the course, attendees will individually complete a 1 hour exam for a certification in Level I: IASTM Fundamentals.
Fundamentals of BFR: This 4-hour course covers the skills necessary to safely and effectively implement Blood Flow Restriction (BFR) Training. The course is set up in a “learn by doing” format in which participants will receive virtual instruction to perform supervised hands-on demonstrations in the proper use of BFR Equipment and Training. After understanding the history, research, physiology, and implications for use, attendees will put this into practice in a virtual supervised lab sessions. They will be exposed to exercise protocols and provided with resources to ensure safe training.

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING REGARDING THE VIRTUAL FORMAT:
This is a LAB-based and interactive course. It is strongly recommended (but not required) to have access to the following:
1. (For IASTM) At least one IASTM tool and a partner / "patient" to practice on.
2. (For BFR) BFR equipment. BFR application / practice can be performed on a partner or yourself.
Our in-person and virtual courses cover the same information, course objectives, and have the same certification exams. For virtual, the live (zoom) portion has a condensed schedule.
